Hotel “Forest Song”, Truskavets
General characteristic of the hotel
According to statistics ratio beds in hotels of Truskavets to the town’s area is the third in the world. Range of hotels in Truskavets is large enough. One the best hotel of the town is the villa “Forest Song” which is in the 38, Shevchenko Street. Villa “Forest Song” has three floors, beautiful façade and interesting interior. The basement and the first floor of the villa are made of bricks, the second and the third floors are built of wood.
This house was built in 1912 after Lech Rudkovsky design. Later villa was redesigned and reconstructed by Croatian and Austrian company “Marat”and since then it has been operated as a hotel complex. The exterior, façade remains the same to the present days, except balconies that have been glazed in. This building is an architectural monument which is protected by the state.
The hotel is located in a quiet area of Truskavets, without passing street near hotel’s windows. As the center passage is closed and driving is possible in one direction, there is no traffic noise and you can not hear it in rooms. The hotel cooperates with the resort “Truskavets” where you can buy sanatorium voucher or get referral for individual treatments. There is a possibility to order a diet menu of different 15 menus. There is a SPA-center and beauty salon as well. Skhidnytsa resort is a competitor of Truskavets in the “struggle for guests”. However, this competition is only apparent as each of resorts has their own supporters. Both Skhidnytsa and Truskavets have their unique springs of mineral water. In Truskavets much easier to treat in cold rainy weather than in Skhidnytsa; in Truskavets pump rooms are located in well-equipped places and it is much easier to get there. Besides having water type “Naftusya” in this area, it is widely used in the treatment process water of other springs as follows “Maria”, “Sofia”, “Eduard”, “Bronislava”, “Yuzia”, “Ferdynand” and others, ozocerite and therapeutic mud. Next to the villa, it is about 5 minutes walk, there is so called lower pump room. This villa combines vintage style with modern conveniences. It is a beautiful building with high ceilings, parquet and carpets, photos of old Truskavets on the walls in the corridor create calm and peace. And collection of old irons, trophies and stylized chandelier gives an impression that the guest moved in the time to the beginning of 20th century. Management of the hotel is native inhabitants of Truskavets. They are interested in Truskavets’ history, know it and can share their knowledge with guests. That is why obviously they were able to convey the spirit of the past century in quite modern hotel. Such approach to the hotel’s design, polite and courteous staff and average prices in comparison with others hotels of the town, high level of service leads to the fact that the hotel has regular guests.
Rooms of the hotel
Rooms of the hotel have general conception; however, they are different in style implementation. Rooms are divided as follows: “Luxury”, “junior suite room”, “improved standard” and “standard”.
General features of the hotel’s rooms
On the 1-2 floors of the hotel in all rooms’ ceilings reach 3.30 m, on the third is 2.5m. Rooms have a refrigerator, kitchen utensils, a soft bed, chairs, a sofa, a coffee table, TV set. A mirror is installed in the hall. There are carpets on the floor in the rooms, halls and bathrooms. All rooms are designed in the same style. Furniture, curtains and bedspreads are selected carefully. Hot and cold water are in rooms 24 hours. In the bathroom there is a shampoo, soap and towels. The shower is installed of hotel’s rooms 4,5 and in “junior suite rooms” ; the others have baths. There are balconies on all floors; in rooms and corridors are parquet floor, TV sets connected to the cable television. There are no balconies in “junior suite rooms”, it has smaller total area; there are balconies in “luxuries” rooms and its total area is bigger. Bed linen is changed every five days (if necessary more frequently). The entire hotel and café area has Wi-Fi; transfer speed is sufficient to watch the video on Youtube.
Accommodation prices
Prices are set for the room for two people. “Luxury” rooms and “junior suite rooms” have folding sofas, so total number of people in the room can be 3 or 4. Charge for the additional place is 50 UAH per day. Prices can be varied and depend on the season; prices are average in the town and discussed with the manager of the hotel. The highest prices are in summer, from October to December prices are declined. In December and January prices are high again; then they are falling up till May. Price per room type “Standard” is 200 UAH, three meals a day is about 110UAH. There is no charge for children under 5 years. If guests arrived with two children, discounts are possible.
“The Iron Horse” – a coffee house or a coffee house and museum?
Style of the coffee house corresponds to its name. Among the exhibits the motorcycle BMW takes the main place; as far back as in 1990 owners of it drove for walks. Twenty years later it was not sent into “retire” to the remote village, but it was restored thrifty and as a special exhibit was exposed in the coffee house. This motorcycle was surrounded by similar things on the walls as follows: sets of wrench and door keys, legs of tables were made from legs of old sewing machines Zinger; there is a place for coffee grinders collection, for frying pan for roasting coffee and others.
Despite a number of “unaesthetic hardware” this coffee house looks pretty cozy. Choice of wooden furniture, walls design and the bar is subject to the same concept which is combining an old style with modern conveniences.
Austrian and Polish branded bricks are especially impressive; it was used for decorating walls and the bar. It was a long process of bricks collection; bricks were brought from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and other cities of western region.
Halls are small, cozy; prices are reasonable.
The walls under the coat racks were tailored by bags where coffee beans had been transported. If you look carefully you may see that beans are of high quality and imported from Hamburg.
Dishes are delicious and dinner portions are big in this restaurant. We recommend to taste it everyone!
